Not totally related, but for some of those having a problem with answering on sapling, also make sure you don't put spaces. I had tetra-ammine dichloro copper (III) chloride and they didn't take it until I changed it to tetraamminedichloro copper (III) chloride.

Figure out how many valence electrons there would be.

As is the center atom and the oxygen atoms should center around it. It should be pretty easily deducible from there.

While studying, don't be afraid to take breaks. If you overload too much, it can cause mental strain. Additionally, during the exam itself don't think about how fast or slow you're going as that can also stress you out.

I think also a good way to think about it is as if the energy from all the electrons are distributed between more atoms, which lowers the energy magnitude of the entire molecule. it's also important to remember that resonance structures represent a singular molecule.

I might be wrong, but I believe that schrodinger's more or less tells us which orbital an electron is located in. I don't know if a comparison can really be made between it and the lewis dot diagram which just gives us a representation of an atom's valence electrons.

I believe that the light/color you see when you shine light on an object is actually a separate process from the photoelectric effect and has more to do with how our eyes interpret light; the object isn't necessarily continuously emitting light. Hope that makes sense!

Wow, there are definitely a lot of good ideas here. Personally, I find that practice problems always help me the most (this goes for every stem subject I've been in). I've actually never been to a step-up session but will def consider going at some point. But yes, 100% practice.

The empirical formula should just be the simplified version of the molecular formula. The ratio of each element should stay the same so essentially you would be reducing the formula to the lowest whole number integers if that makes sense. For example, C4H8O4 would be reduced to CH2O.
