Re: Thoughts on Switching Majors?
I definitely have been thinking of changing my major. I am currently a Gender Studies major, but I'm also pre-med. For me, I enjoy Gender studies so much and my plan was to be original for medical school and stray away from a common science major, but I am afraid that it is not a workable major for ...

Re: How are you?
Honestly, overwhelmed. On top of UCLA classes, I am working a job that I go to right after I finish my classes. I close almost everyday, so I come home at 10:30. I just always feel like I have absolutely no time for anything, and December is one of those months that keep me up all night. Scared for...

Re: Dipole moment vs dipole bond
Hello! A dipole moment is a measure of the polarity of a certain bond. Therefore, if we have a polar bond, then it will have a non-zero dipole moment. Of course, a polar bond arises from the unequal sharing of electrons between atoms (differences in electronegativity), so a dipole moment is also a ...

Re: Test Anxiety
School is stressful and hard at times! Most students at this university put their 110% and leave little time for themselves. But please, if you put in the hours, take some time for yourself and do the things that make you happy or bring you peace. Don't overcrowd your brain, everything that you need...

I heard Organic Chem on youtube is super helpful, I watch from time to time for a few topics! Also, khan academy is a life saver. Textbook problems are definitely the best way to go for studying though.

Re: polar vs nonpolar
From what I read, the electronegativity difference has to be between 0.5 and 1.6 to be considered polar. Anything less than 0.5 is non-polar!

Re: Partial vs Formal charge
A partial charge is indicated by which atom of a bond has the higher EN and which has the lower EN. A formal charge is indicated by the # gained or lossed electrons.

On the periodic table, electronegativity increases from bottom to top in groups, and increases from left to right across periods!
