Coordination Number On Ligands

Hi all, I had a question regarding coordination number on ligands that are greater than monodentate, since these can form more than 1 bond, would the coordination number change or would it still count as one bond? Thank you in advance.

Since lone pairs have very high repulsion, they push bonding pairs away from themselves and closer to other bonding pairs, therefore decreased bond angles between them. Hope this helped :)

Im pretty sure this one would be square planar, due to the fact that it follows the formula AX4E2, which means 4 bonded and 2 lone pairs, and its similar to the xenon tetrafluoride example Dr. Lavelle went Over in lecture 21; Hope this helped :)

electron affinity relates to the amount of energy released when an electron binds to an element; electronegativity relates to how well an atom can attract an atom.

I would strongly suggest reviewing the textbook outline problems, they facilitate how to approach a problem. Theres answer key for the textbook problems so that you could see how they work out the answer if you're unsure of how to approach a problem; Hope this helped :)

Many people have mentioned that the scores will be released after every discussion section has taken their midterm, however this is not confirmed by Dr. Lavelle , so as of right now no one really knows when they'll be released. Hope this helped. :)

Hi, I'm not sure if this has been asked or answered before but, after you find the delta e of an equation, in terms of delta E= -(h*R)/n^2, and it comes out negative due to the loss of energy, how come you lose the negative sign if they're asking for the frequency? Thanks in advance.

Yes, the threshold and work function basically mean the same thing. Threshold was used when the experiment was first conducted, but now its more commonly known as the work function.

I find it really helpful to list right underneath how many units of each element you have, and that way try to figure out how many you would need to make them balanced, after that I go back plug in the values I came up with and then see if it works out.
