You can determine if a species is acidic or basic bc if it donates a proton, then it’s acidic, if it accepts, then it’s basic.

I doubt we can. We haven't been allowed to use notes or cheat sheets of any kind besides the equation sheet and periodic table. Maybe Lavelle will say we can later but rn i haven't heard anything abt being able to use a chart

I think just doing a lot of practice problems is beneficial in memorizing the shapes and bond angles and becoming more familiar with the molecules. Although there are 4 bonding regions for H20, there are still 2 lone pairs, makes the shape of molecule bent since the two lone pairs are pushing the electrons from the two bonded atoms

sigma bonds are just single bonds and pi bonds are in triple and double bonds. However, in a double bond, one is a sigma bond and the other is a pi bond. And in triple there are 2 pi bonds and one sigma bond

Its easier if you write down the notes he gave in the lecture and have them at hand to refer to. Like by figuring out the regions of e- density you can figure out # of hybrid orbitals, and what I do is just have my notes to refer to, to figure out the hybridization formula. Gonna take some memorizat...

When trying to find the hybridization orbitals look for the regions of e- density. C and O in that problem have 4 areas, u get sp3, S P P P being the 4 different orbitals that can have electrons.

The way I remember cations and anions is that cations have a "t" which closely resembles a "+" sign. So elements with the "+" are cations which means an e- was removed. And basically once you know what a cation is, one can deduce that an anion is the opposite.
