Not sure if it's all, but I've definitely found that on our midterms some questions were taken verbatim from the textbook so it probably helps to do all the practice problems.

Lavelle said that most of the material would be on the quantum world since that's what we spent the most time on. The other material will probably be distributed based on how much time we spent on it as well.

I'm pretty sure a 50% or higher is passing for this class, and generally a 90-100 is in the A range.

You also can draw the lewis structure for the molecule and look for asymmetry. If it is asymmetrical, it's polar and if it's symmetrical it's non- polar.

I also felt that this midterm was much harder than the 1st, but I think that it'll help to really grind out over the topics you didn't understand from this section over the next couple weeks and hopefully do better on the final, since that takes up a good portion of our grades.

I'm pretty sure you have until week 9 to change your grading to P/NP, so my advice would be to maybe wait until you have a good understanding of where your grade is at in the class before you change it. But make sure to double check your major requirements!

No, we aren't allowed to have annotations on our sheets during the actual midterm but it helps to annotate on a practice copy to cement them in your head before the exam.

Hydrogen bonds only occur with N, O, or F because they have to be bonded to a highly electronegative atom. Nitrogen, Oxygen, and Fluorine are the only atoms with a high enough electronegativity for this to occur!

I don't know if this will help you, but in HS they taught us the mnemonic "King Henry Died By Drinking Chocolate Milk Monday Night" (kilo, hecto, deka, base, deci, centi, milli, micro, nano) to memorize the order of the SI units.

Like everyone has been saying, the v for frequency is written in cursive and for velocity it is not. If you forget that you can always look at your units: frequency (hz), velocity (m/s).

I also would second doing the homework problems if nothing else, because Lavelle has said those questions will be put on exams. But other than that reviewing the audio-visual modules can help really cement in certain topics, along with doing the UA worksheets from step-up sessions as extra practice.

Like previously stated, the only time a number would apply to both elements is if it's used as a coefficient (e.g. 2CO; C=2, O=2). So in that example since the 4 is only after the O, C=1 and O=4.

I'm pretty sure if you're just trying to figure out the molecular formula, no they do not hold any significance. Like for example on Question #8 on Sapling, you only have to count how many times each element appears in the molecule to find the molecular formula, which the double bonds have no effect...
