It is still an acid-base reaction since there is an acid and base for the reaction, however, I am not sure if it's a neutralization reaction since the product is neither water nor salt.

The triple bond is composed of one σ bond and two π bonds. The sigma bond is formed from head-to-head overlap of the sp hybrid orbitals from the C and N atoms. The two π bonds in the triple bond are formed from overlap of the two unhybridized p atomic orbitals on each C and N atom.

I think you need to take both of them into consideration and resonance since resonance provides stability aswell. I wonder if we can choose just one of those characteristics and base our answers on that.

I am not sure if this was already mentioned, but the bond length of HF is pretty short, so it makes it harder to break that bond. Shorter bonds = stronger bonds = weaker acids.

Most of the time, H+ is referring to H3O+. It is just a shorter way to write it. You have to remember that there is interaction with water H2O, so when you have that additional H+, you get H3O+ Hydronium.

It does not really matter. When he puts the - before like -OH, he is trying to emphasize that the oxygen is the atom with the negative charge and not the hydrogen.

I try not to think of the exam because it makes me feel worse, and there is nothing that you can do after the exam. I go for a long jog/walk/run after these exams and it helps (I do it for the endorphins lol)

The other difference that I think helps distinguish them is that electronegativity is a chemical property of electron attraction vs. electron affinity, which is the amount of energy released when an electron is gained.

I also remember him saying in lecture not to worry about f orbitals and that we would focus primarily on s,p, and d orbitals. I wonder why he gave us a problem with an f orbital if we didn't need to "worry about it."

No, we don't always make expanded octets even if they are possible on our lewis structure. Sulfur was the example given in the lecture, but other elements with an expanded octet include Chlorine, Silicon, and Phosphorus. I like to study outside and get some sunlight. It easy to forget about breaks and your health when you have multiple classes to worry about. I take multiple mental breaks when I study, and sometimes when things are not clicking, I go for a walk/jog to clear my mind before coming back to the problem.

I believe we get our scores after all discussion sections have taken it and the exams closes, which is Friday - so, we should get our results by the end of the day on Friday. The course isn't curved, so I don't think...

You don't have to memorize formulas since they will be provided to us for the exam. I try to see what the information is provided and understand what they are asking for us to solve for, then I try to use/find the equations that use that information we have and go from there.

What about when we use known constants to solve for an answer, like for example c=3.0x10^8. Should we then have our final answer with only one sig figure or should we ignore that and follow the number of sig figs that the numbers provided to us in the problem have?

I usually don't round either. I keep the true values saved on my calculator to get the most accurate answer. I round until the very last step, usually to the number of places that the numbers on the problem used (to be consistent).

Maybe it helps if you think of it like this: diluting means to add a liquid or another solvent but not more solute (or what is being dissolved) that is why the moles don't change

Chemical equations obey the law of conservation of mass (matter cannot be created or destroyed). That is why we balance the equation to get the same number of atoms of each element on each side of a chemical equation. I think you might be confusing it with the number of moles.
