Re: grade worries
I think it's important not to stress too much about grades right now considering we barely passed the halfway mark. We have another midterm and final to try to get our grades in a better position. We got this!

I received an email from my TA during the week that said we should have white scratch paper, a periodic table, and the equations sheet. I think you should print out the equations sheet just to be safe.

Does anyone know if there is a way to get subtitles on bruin cast? My other classes have them but I've never been able to use them for chem lecture.

Re: Electronegativity vs. Electron Affinity
Electronegativity relates to the ability of an atom to attract electrons to itself. Electron affinity is the energy change when an electron is added to an atom. So they are connected in a way!

I think an important thing to do is to not overwork yourself. Not only will this make you less productive but it may also affect your health so remember to take breaks and to look away from the screen when you can. Times are tough and there's no denying that school just isn't the same but it's very ...

Does anyone know how the test was graded? I'm a little confused about how we got decimals as our scores if it was all multiple choice. Was there partial credit of some sort?

Re: sapling no. 8
So you know that this is the Balmer series because of the visible blue line which means n1=2. Use the rydberg equation of v=R( (1/n1^2) - (1/n2^2) ). We know frequency equals c/λ. Make sure to convert the wavelength to meters. Once you plug in all your values, you should be able to solve for n2.

One of the Sampling Q's explained that we needed to use Avogadro's number but I'm not too familiar with it. What is it and when should we use it?

Re: wavelength
Neither a wavelength or frequency can be negative. It can be a bit confusing because in the Rydberg Equation the results can be negative or positive. This just expresses how the energy would be released (higher to lower energy level) or absorbed (lower to higher energy level).

The best thing to do is to ask for help! Email your TA if you have any questions and try to attend workshops. Most importantly do not overwork yourself, take breaks when studying, and move away from the screen so that your eyes arent overworked.

I know we only have to focus on questions #1-19 on SAPLING for the midterm but there were people saying the order is different. Do we still have to worry about our sapling problems being in a different order or has this been resolved already?

I had to use Respondus once but during that exam, we had to keep our mics and cameras on. It's pretty much a monitoring system and if I remember correctly, it would just let the instructor know if something happened like if you were out of the frame for a little bit, etc.

I think it would be best to carry all decimals throughout the calculation and then the result should be rounded at the end. You'll get the most accurate sig fig that way. I have no idea about the second part

Re: Number of Sig Figs according to a question.
One thing I'm still not really sure of is how many zeros after a sig fig on the right side of the decimal point are sig figs. For example, if I was to determine asked for 0.320 and 0.3200, would they both have three sig figs? Any trailing zero where a decimal point is shown would be significant. So...
