Re: Dimensional Analysis
Hi! On top of what everyone else has said, I think the most helpful thing for me to refer back to is one of Dr. Lavelle's lectures on the Fundamentals. Specifically, in week 1, lecture 3, given on 10/8/20, Dr. Lavelle gives us a chart that is very helpful to dimensional analysis. The chart includes ...

Re: When should I start looking at sig figs?
I agree with what everyone else has already said before me! Personally, I just keep all my calculations on my calculator (if possible) until I get to the answer. I usually rearrange my equations until it is something I can input to the calculator in one step. Then, I reread the question to determine...

Re: Chem Community Posts
Hi! I believe Dr. Lavelle sent out an email entailing what counts on Chemistry Community. According to a document on his website that he linked, "Post can be a question, an answer, a comment on a question or answer, general discussion, assisting other students, etc." So I would assume just...

Re: Office Hours before midterms
Hi! In regards to the camera question, my TA said that the webcam should be angled down a bit to see the desk area you're working at and your materials. I don't think they specifically need to see all the work on your paper.

Re: Webcams for Midterm
In discussion section last week, on top of what everyone else has already said, my TA said it would be acceptable to use another device such as a person in your house's laptop or tablet to use as your webcam if you would rather use something else than your phone.

Re: Midterm Conceptual Questions
I would suggest reviewing the audio visual modules available to us on Lavelle's website. From what I understand, these questions will resemble what our midterm will be like. Also review the textbook questions! Good luck studying!

Be careful when you're doing dimensional analysis. Pay attention to whether you are in radians vs degrees because this will change your answer. Also watch out for sig figs!

Sorry I don't have the specific link, but I believe if you search up "groupme" on chemistry community there should be a post with a masterlist of all the groupmes that have been created for this class!

Thank you so much for this video! For future reference and studying, what do you look up on youtube to find helpful videos such as this one? In other words, how do you narrow down a search when you are confused on a topic? I always get overwhelmed.

Re: Notetaking and Organization
Hi! For me personally, I keep all my chem notes in one notebook, but every new lecture I watch starts on a new page. I do this because I like to refer to different lectures and topics based on what week they were taught. I would say best way for me to retain information would be to do the practice p...

Trouble with Sapling Question #8
Was anyone else having trouble with the sapling question 8? For the molecular formula part of the question, the program was not allowing me to type in letters, so I was never able to get the correct answer. Did anyone else have this problem?

Hi! I'm a second year starting the 14a series, and I was just wondering if there were any other second years in this class as well! It would be nice to connect with some other students my grade in this class. Please let me know (: Thank you!
