Catalysts lower the activation energy, but increase the speed of the reaction rate. Same thing goes for both forward and reverse rxns.

Since the style and format of the final are pretty similar to that of the midterms, I strongly suggest starting UA sessions and repeatedly going over textbook questions, especially those you struggle with. There are so many hours of sessions and guides that you should check out. Good luck!

Remember they have to be the exact same phase and coefficient for them to cancel each other out. The phase is really important in Hess's Law.

I strongly recommend relaxing while studying. Drink water, eat snacks, maybe turn on some classical music, and always take some breaks to go outside and walk!

q is 0 since there is no heat transfer, and work is also 0 because there is also no volume change since nothing is able to go in or out. So this means that delta U is also 0.

Hey! It is just another unit of measure we use. You should keep in mind that:
1 Coulomb = The amount of electrical charge in 6.24 x 10^18 electrons.
1 Volt = 1 J/Coulomb

I believe that the style and format of the final is pretty similar to that of the midterms. Like everyone else is recommending, I strongly suggest UA sessions and repeatedly going over textbook questions, especially those you struggle with. Good luck!

Yes! Note that the anode must always go on the left side and the cathode must always go on the right side of the diagram, as it tells us which is the oxidation and which is the reduction.

The policy is pretty lenient, the syllabus says that a 50% or higher is required to pass with a C- or higher.

The Kb (or k) value is actually a constant so he didn't derive it from molecules. It is called the Boltzmann constant.

In a closed system, energy can exchange with surroundings. In an isolated system, nothing at all can exchange with surroundings. For example, a pot with a lid on it is a closed system. CP and CV always remain the same for solids and liquids, so you should be fine. You just have to worry about gases since they can change volume.

The only two methods the professor has taught us are solving through quadratic formulas and approximating. I do not think he would give us complex equations on the midterm that cannot be solved without them.

Yes we always leave out H2O from the calculations since it is in excess, so the change in concentration is not significant.

If delta H is positive, the reaction is endothermic and requires heat, which would favor product formation. If delta H is negative, the reaction is exothermic and gives off heat, which favors reactant formation. Hope this helps!

Only include H2O in the ice table if it is aqueous and gaseous, never a liquid or a solid. Ensure that you know which phase it is in always.
