Re: Oxidizing Agent
As stated above the oxidizing agent is what is reduced so whatever has highest reduction potential will be the best oxidizing agent and the one with lowest reduction potential would be considered the poorest oxidizing agent.

Hi my school didn't offer AP Bio and I was still able to get an A in the class. The workload is very doable and Maloy gives you multiple opportunities for extra credit. The class itself will require studying like all classes but I wouldn't rely too much on the launchpad. Attend all the midterm revie...

I don't think we have to memorize oxidation numbers just that oxygen is -2 and hydrogen is +1 and deduce the rest from those givens.

Re: Gas Constant R
The gas constant you use depends on the units of the given information. So far it seems that most of the problems we've been given do use the 8.314 J/ (K*mol) so I wouldn't stress about it too much. However just make sure to know which constant to use should you be given something in units that diff...

So far I'm enrolled in LS7C and LS40 but I'm not sure if I'll be able to take 14C cause the class is already full. I do have credit for chem 20A and 20L but I'm not sure if I could do Chem 30A as an alternative or if I'm even prepared for that class.

Re: Sampling hw #4
You would have to look at the bond strengths, but simply put it is because the total energy needed to break(add energy) the bonds of the single reactants is greater than the energy needed to form the compound. So because more energy is added than released the overall reaction would be endothermic.

In phase changes I like to think of the phase diagram and in what direction you are going to. If you are moving right along the heating curve you adding heat which is endothermic. So for example going from solid to liquid would be an endothermic reaction because you are adding energy. If you are mov...
