### Re: Reversible vs Irreversible

It's for ideal gases. On the equation sheet, you'll see that U=(3/2)nRT.

### Re: Winter 2007 Midterm Problem 8

I dont understand how you get .0257V without a temperature given. If it was at 25 degrees C, then we could make it the .0592 value, but how does it get .0257? :(

### Study Groups!

Hey guys, who is interested in study groups? I have my quiz Tuesday, so it's a last minute for me, but for future quizzes or the midterm, who wants to meet up sometime? I can make a google doc for interested participants. We can do textbook problems, past quizzes, ect. It would also be good to get t...

Hey! I wanted to throw this at you really quick,
if you see ka=____ you know you have a weak acid. If they give you a kb, you have a weak base. It's just a little trick ;)

### Electron Configuration with Hybridization

Hi, I'm having a lot of trouble with figuring out configuration using the sigma and pi configuration. I looked at the table and I know how to determine if something is, say, sp3 or sp or sp2 or something, but I get really confused when we have to write out the entire notation. Can someone explain it...

### Re: Double bonds and hybridization.

Hey there,
from what I understand, you want to count regions of electron density, not necessarily the type of bond. A single, double, or even a triple bond between atoms is going to be considered one going of electron density. So, I would say it's sp2.
I hope I'm not messing it up!

### Number of Resonance Structures?

Is there a way to calculate how many resonance structures a molecule will have? For 2.45 in the homework, there are 4 possibilities, but I wouldn't have figured them all out with something as big as that, I don't think. Is there some formula or mathematical way of determining this? The number of str...

### Ground-State Electron Configuration of Cu+

Question: How is the electron configuration of Cu + =[Ar]d 10 ? I wrote [Ar]3d 9 ,4s 2 because Cu has 9 valence electrons. If it's giving away 1 electron, it would be taken away from 4s 2 , right? But that would still leave 4s 1 . So, does the 1 just transfer into the d and make it 10? Is Cu and ex...
