Re: How to draw curved arrows?

The tail of the arrow is from the the source of the electron and the arrow goes to where the election goes. For example in step 1 of q6, the electron source is the bond between N and H. The electrons go to the N and leaves the H with no electrons. However, I am confused about step 3. The arrows show...

Gibbs as a State Function

In 2013 Final Q2A, I know you can add the gibbs free energy because it's a state function. We were given:
NADH > NAD+ + H+ + 2e- deltaG is -158.3KJ.
However why did this energy change to -158.2 KJ in the calculations? Was this just a typo?

Re: Final 2012 Q5

Never mind, I miss read the post; it only said "Cyclopropene, cyclobutene, cyclopentene, cyclohexene"
However, I'm still a little confused on how to determine cis or trans when theres no 3D model, like in this question for Q5 on 2012 final.

Re: Final 2012 Q5

Shouldn't this molecule be cis no matter what? Because if the double bond was trans, this molecule wouldn't be possible as stated on a similar question on this post: https://lavelle.chem.ucla.edu/forum/viewtopic.php?f=86&t=3763"onclick="window.open(this.href);return false; And because this molec...

Molecular Formula

I was wondering in problem 8D of 2011 Final, theres a Newman projection of 1-chloro-5fluorohexane. One of the molecular formulas in the anti position is CFHCH3. Would it be wrong if I wrote CHCH3F or CHFCH3? How do you know the order to write the atoms?

Sorry, I have an older course reader. Maybe it was a typo.

Re: State Functions

Thanks, I was a little confused because on the first page of thermochemistry in the course reader, it said E is a state function.

State Functions

In the practice midterm of 2014 5C, the answers say that E is a path function, not a state function.
Why? I thought E was a state function.

Question #3 in workbook Consider a gas at an initial pressure of 5.0 atm and an initial volume of 1.0 L that undergoes a change to 2.0 atm and 4.0 L by two different pathways. The gas is at 298 K. Pathway 1: P1 = 5.0 atm P2 = 5.0 atm P3 = 2.0 atm V1 = 1.0 L V2 = 4.0 L V3 = 4.0 L Pathway 2: P1 = 5.0 ...
