Re: Energy vs Reaction Progress Curve and temperature
You can also think of it as T increases, it will thus speed up the reaction (causing more collisions) and increasing k, the magnitude of the rate constant as well.

Re: Writing a cell diagram, electrodes
For the cell diagrams, why don't we include the numbers of the electrode (for ex: Midterm 2009 we put lH+l when there are 2H+'s?

Midterm 2007 Q3B- Explanation of (delta)S total
Would someone mind explaining why "delta S knot" is not a criterion for assessing the spontaneity of a reaction but the "delta S total rxn" shows that a reaction is spontaneous when it is greater than 0?

Concept of Ecell vs. Estandard
Would someone mind explaining exactly what it means conceptually when Ecell is greater than or less than E at the standard state?

Units for specific heat capacity: kJ/gC or J/gC
For answers regarding specific heat, the course reader lists the units as kJ/gC, however is it acceptable to leave our answers as J/gC as the quiz had?

Entropy Changes Based on Changes in Volume
In the equation for change in entropy (delta s)= nRln(V2/V1), when would you know whether or not there should be a negative sign in front of the "n"? Is it based on whether it's expansionary or not?

Re: What to use to find the EN difference
For electronegativity, is Cl less electronegative than O? As in does the trend from right to left decrease EN less drastically than going downwards?

Re: Problem 2.37c Lewis Structure for H2C(NH2)COOH
I had a similar question and Lewis structure to the one above^ How would we know whether to place the H on the outer structure as opposed to N or O. (Similarly with #43) Is it based on ionization?

Re: Clarifying how many sig figs needed
Hello Professor Lavelle, I was just curious as to whether or not we take into account significant digits within calculations (for ex: mass to mass, mole to mass, etc.) or whether we count significant digits at the end when providing the answer. For the most part I've tried both and haven't had a lar...
