winter 2012 midterm question on electro
i am confused as to why the problem 7B selected the cell potential -1.63 as the cathode and the cell potential -1.18 as the anode.i thought you wanted to make the largest negative the oxidation step so you can end up with a larger positive cell potential value, can anyone clarify?

Q: What do you call a tooth in a glass of water?
A: A one molar solution.
Teacher: What is the formula for water?
Student: H, I, J, K, L, M, N, O
Teacher: That's not what I taught you.
Student: But you said the formula for water was...H to O.

Not entirely sure, but he did mention that as long as you earn 1/2 of the total points at the end of the quarter you can receive a C.

Re: delta S
If you think about it algebraically it would make sense. Dividing by a smaller number vs dividing by a larger one will give you a larger value. So temperature which is the variable that will be in the denominator will determine the size of your value. Lower temp = greater change in entropy.

Re: Hess's Law
In the CR, when solving a problem using the Hess's Law method the two equations are presented in such a way where you can add the equations vertically, but he cancels out the reactants in one equation that appears in the product of the other, is this something that can always be done? Will there alw...
