Re: Salts in Solutions

If it's a cation and an anion, then you can assume its a salt. Overtime, common salts become familiar. Use the Henderson-Hasselbach equation (pH = pKa + log (A-)/(HA)) to determine the pH of buffer solutions.

Re: Titrant Equations

I think you are referring to finding the pH of a titrant at the equivalence point, in which you need to assume that all of the NH3 was used and thus you write the reverse reaction. Initially, the equation is NH3 + H20 <-> NH4 + OH- but after titrating, all of the NH3 has been neutralized, therefore ...

Tirtrants- Calculating the pH at equivalence point

In weak base, strong acid titrations, how do you find the chemical formula for finding the pH at equivalence point?
ex. 50.0 mL of 0.250 M NH3 (Kb= 1.8x10^-5) with 0.500 M HCL.

Re: Lewis Dot Structure model

A lot of the time there is also resonance, so as long as you fulfill the octet rule, then you should be fine.

Ratio between Products and Reactant

If an equation has two reactants but three products, how do you determine the molar ration between the products between reactants and products? (i.e. 2NBr3 + 3NaOH ---> N2 + 3NaBr + 3HOBr)
