When solving a Buffer problem, will we always have to apply the Henderson-Hasselbalch equation? or are there any exceptions on how to solve buffers?

Aqueos and Gaseous Problems
If I have a reaction with both an aqueous and a gaseous but the problem is looking for partial pressure, would I omit the aqueous solution from the equation?
