what conformations will we have to draw on the final? Is it just chair, or should we also know boat, twist boat, butterfly, envelope?

Naming: methyl vs methly propyl

If we have 2 substituents, methyl and methlypropyl, shouldnt methyl come first. In the textbook (page )they put methylpropyl before methyl, but in OH, the UAs have been saying otherwise.

When will a reaction occur at room temp?

In the intro to ochem book, on pg 154, it says that a rxn will occur at room temp if Ea>80kj/mol and wont occur at room temp is Ea<80kj/mol. In the graphs, however, it does not always state numbers for Ea, so how do we know when a reaction occurs at room temp?

Rate = k[A][B] vs rate = -1/a d[A]/dt

What is the difference between the two equations. Rate = k[A][B] vs rate = -1/a d[A]/dt. I understand that the second one means that reactants go down as reaction progresses because they are used up, but do we ever use that to solve any problems, or is it more of a conceptual thing?

For a state property, you only need to know initial and final values. The pathway is not important.

Temperature as a state property?

In lecture Dr. Lavelle said that temperature can be a state property because you can calculate the change in temperature without knowing how the heat changes. Then he said that heat is not always a state property. So is temperature a state property or not?
