Why is is that just common names you count all carbons and not just the longest chain? But when you do IUPAC with common names, you only use the chain?

If you're given a rate of an unbalanced equation, do you have to change the rate to tend to the balanced equation before solving for anything (ex: solving for time). Would you multiply the rate by the coefficient of moles , or perhaps multiply the rate constant by the coefficient of moles or does it...

lower case k, rate constant, has different units. Make sure you know the difference in units between 1st, 2nd and zero order.

So for an isothermal reaction you would still use U=q+w because q still exists? But doesn't q=nCdeltaT, and isn't deltaT 0 in isothermal, so wouldn't it be U=w?
