Re: Writing Redoz Rxn and Drawing Cell

If you are going to use the reversed value for copper, E cell = -.34V, then you do not use E cell = cathode - anode and instead just add the cathode and anode. You use E cell = cathode - anode if you keep the original E cell value and simply plug in to that equation. You should get the same answer e...

Activation Energy and Temperature

How do you know if an organic reaction will occur at room temperature or a higher/lower temperature based on activation energy? For example, 4.30 in the organic chemistry textbook. Thank you!

When using qwater = mwaterCwaterdelta T, the solution shows that the temperatures are not converted from Celsius to Kelvin for delta T. Why is this conversion not necessary? If I were to convert the temperatures to cancel out units with Cwater would the answer be wrong?

Re: Finding Gibs free energy

Hi,

Breaking a diatomic molecule X2(g) requires energy to become 2X(g), and therefore the reaction is endothermic. This is true for other halogens as well

Re: Bond Enthalpies~Clarification

Like you said, bonds that are formed have negative values since it is an exothermic process. Therefore you don't subtract the values from one another, rather you are adding negative values together. For an example of this, you could reference page 18 in the course reader
