Re: 2011 Final Q5B: Lewis Structure

you can do that but that won't be the most stable structure as the formal charge of S would no longer be 0.

Re: Acids and bases

A strong acid would completely ionise in water, however which acids would do that you could memorise the names of the six strong acids we are supposed to know. hydrochloric acid HCl hydrobromic acid HBr hydroiodic acid HI sulfuric acid H2SO4 nitric acid HNO3 perchloric acid HClO4 Every other acid wo...

Re: Polyprotic Acids & Bases

A monoprotic acid is an acid that can donate only one proton, while polyprotic acid can donate more than one proton. Similarly, a monoprotic base can only accept one proton, while a polyprotic base can accept more than one proton.

Re: Electron Affinity of Carbon vs. Nitrogen

Nitrogen is already in its half filled stable configuration 1s2 2s2 2p3 therefore it resist any change in its stable configuration. Whereas carbon would want an electron to achieve half filled stable configuration. Therefore carbon has higher electron affinity.
