Why exactly are intermediates not used when determining the rate law of a reaction?

Re: Common Name

Isopropyl Alcohol. It is easy to see this when you draw the line structure.

Difference between Alcohol and Aldehydes

I understand that the H is attached to the center atom for aldehydes, but how can we tell whether or not it is based on the molecular formula?

Re: Phenol

Only for benzene rings. However, you do not need to know this for the exam.

Tert vs. Neo

What exactly is the difference between tert and neo. I know tert is has 3 (4 including the one from the main chain) carbons attached to the connecting carbon, but neo also has 3 methyls connected to the 2nd to last carbon in the substituent. Can they be used for the same structure?

Alkyne rotation

When drawing Alkynes, how come the line structures do not bend (as they do in alkanes and alkenes)? Does this have to do with the inability of triple bonds to rotate?

Galvanic vs electrolytic cells?

What exactly is the difference between galvanic and electrolytic cells? I know both have salt bridges, anodes, cathodes, and electrons flow from one to the other

Purpose of Salt Bridge

What exactly is the purpose of a salt bridge and what determines what it's made of?
I believe Professor Lavelle touched upon it as a way to balance the concentrations of solutions in each cell (?).

Heat Capacity

Heat avapcity is the amount of heat required to change the temperature of a certain substance. However, what are the exact factors that go into determining the amount of temperature required for calculations? Thanks

Re: Transition metals

Finding the valence electrons is much more complicated for transition metals. Take a look at this resource: https://blog.udemy.com/how-to-find-valence-electrons/"onclick="window.open(this.href);return false; "For the transition metals (groups 3-12), figuring out the valence electrons is more co...
