Ring flip

Is there a difference between ring flip and chair flip?
From what I know, chair flip is to make directions the same while the position changes.

If the question doesn't ask to use which method, what method do we use? The slow reaction that determines the overall reaction or the pre-equilibrium approach? I'm confused on how to distinguish when to use these two methods?

Why the ion like [Co(en) 3]+3 is octahedral? I understand that en is bidentate so if there are three of them so they are octahedral. But I still don't get how it actually works like? Can someone tell me in details? Thanks in advance!
