For an electrophilic addition reaction, you start by breaking a double bond, and in the end you don't have the double bond.

Each conformation corresponds to a different cycloalkane, butterfly (C4H8), envelope (C5H10), and chair (C6H12). Those are the most stable conformations for each respective cycloalkane, and the chair conformation is always more stable than boat for C6H12.

Water density is 1g/mL therefore 50mL of water is equivalent to 50g of water. It's also written on the equation sheet incase you ever forget.

Cyclohexane is definitely not the highest carbon ring, I'm not sure what is but cyclooctane C8H16 is a molecule.

Constant temperature simply means that delta T=0 and therefore delta U=0. Heat transfer is not necessarily zero when delta T=0. For example, during a phase change the temperature stays constant but heat is still being absorbed or released.

The answer is -704kJ/mol because it is asking for the standard reaction enthalpy of anhydrous aluminum chloride which is measured in kJ/mol. The calculated answer is -1407.8kJ for 2 mols, so when you divide it by 2 and consider significant figures, the final answer is -704kJ/mol

E¤ doesn't change because it is an intensive property so it doesn't not depend on how much material there is. I think what the solutions manual means is that E cell cannot be calculated from K without knowing the value of E¤ first.

In general the only possible shapes that can be nonpolar are: linear, trigonal planar, tetrahedral, trigonal bipyramidal, octahedral and square planar, IF all the attached atoms are the same. If there are lone pairs or one or more different attached atoms, the structure is very likely to be polar.

ClO2+ forms one double bond between Cl and O because it has doesn't have enough electrons. If you take electronegativity into consideration, O has an electronegativity of 3.5 whereas Cl has an electronegativity of 3.0. Therefore, it could be that it is more important for O to fill its octet and leave Cl with a lone electron. Then again, we might not need to take this into consideration yet.

If your answer is close enough to a whole number and the rest of your answers seem correct to you, you should be safe to round up/down and not have to worry too much about it.

Since the ratio of HCl to AlCl3 is 3 to 1, you would first divide .213mol by 3 before multiplying it by the molar mass of AlCl3, and your answer would be about 9.5g of AlCl3

I think the best way to approach any problem in chemistry is to first figure out what you are given and then second figure out what you are trying to find. This way, even when we are confused we can use deductive reasoning to narrow down our equation choices. As for all the equations, they might see...
