A primary amine just means that amine is attached to one carbon, secondary 2 carbons, and tertiary 3 carbons.

You only prioritize the first named substituent if the numbering can go either way. Ethyl is not prioritized in this example because the lowest numbering is that example, and counting another way does not give the same set of numbers for different substituents.

Reaction Profiles

How do we know when a Delta G of the reaction is positive or negative? As in; is the product above or below the original reactant? Is it implied depending on the reaction mechanism such as it being a electrophilic addition reaction or a bimolecular nucleophilic substitution reaction?

I believe that is the only place where they are mentioned. It seems to me that carboanions are just carbons with a negative charge, while carbocations are carbons with a positive charge. Carbocations are mentioned in the electrophile section after the nucleophile section.

You have to add up all the individual orders of the reactants to get the order of the overall reaction. For individual reactants you solve for the exponents by using different sets of data that match up completely except for the reactant that you are solving for. Looking at the rate constant's units...

When given the delta heat of combustion do we have to utilize the equations for combustion and add them all together using Hess's Law? Or can we use them in place of delta H of formation and Subtract the Sum of Reactants from the Sum of Products and get the same answer?

I was wondering why there was a second sigma bond in the p orbital in the M.O. diagrams. If only one bond can be sigma wouldn't the s orbital be the only one with a sigma bond, with the rest of the p-orbitals all having pi bonds?

Positive energy means that the molecule is absorbing energy from the broken bond, it is an endothermic reaction. Negative energy refers to energy being emitted, and would mean the energy was leaving the molecule, as an exothermic reaction.
