Halogenated Compounds

The course reader tells us to read and practice 2.1, "Halogenated Compounds," but I don't think we went over these in class and i can't find any material in the course reader either. Will halogenated compounds be covered in the final?

Quiz 3 Material

As far as I know, quiz 3 covers topics up to pg.99 in the course reader, so does that mean functional groups and other related topics are not in the quiz? Thanks.

Balancing Redox Rxn in Basic Solution

So in review, to balance a basic redox rxn, we literally follow the exact same steps we would for an acidic solution but double the concentrations of H20 so we can balance it out with OH^- molecules in the end?

Enthalpy vs Standard Enthalpy of Formation

Hello, how are standard enthalpies of formation different from just enthalpy? Are they only accounted for when the elements are in their most stable form?
And I suppose we only use them when bond enthalpies are not available?
