Re: Final

Do we know any of the subjects that will not be covered on the exam? Because it would be much easier to study if we knew what to focus on & the things we won't need.

Re: Difference between Delta H and q?

I guess in simpler terms you can say q = heat in general, whereas H (enthalpy) = qp which is heat at a constant pressure.

Re: Entalpy related to Temperature

well from the formula for enthalpy H=mass x specific heat x change in temperature. if you increase the change in temperature, then H would also increase.

Re: Derivations

If derivatives will be covered on the exams, will knowing the simplest formula/ setup of the derivative suffice, or will we have to know each step of the derivation process?

Re: state functions

state functions do not depend on the path, you only need to be concerned about the initial and final state

I believe he only posted numerical value solutions because he wants us to figure out how to get the solutions ourselves.

I am also unsure of when to switch to Ka or Kb. Also, how do we calculate a new volume or "V-total"

is the oxidation state and the oxidation number the same? does it make a difference if we write it in roman numerals or if we write it as a charge?

Re: Orbitals [ENDORSED]

I think essentially he was trying to say that L can be 0,1,2,3,4,... however the corresponding orbitals were s,p,d, and f so there was no further orbital for any value after 3. It is possible for the L-value to have values greater than 3 however they occur at a higher level.

Since the prep quizzes are being graded, does anyone know what percent of our grade they are?
