Re: Aliphatic vs aromatic hydrocarbon
In the most simplest way of saying it: aromatic hydrocarbon has a ring (like benzene) molecular structure. -ARENES are under this category aliphatic hydrocarbon does NOT have a ring shape, it has a chain like structure (like butane) -ALKANES, ALKENES, ALKYNES are under this category

Re: determining the catalyst
Catalyst do not change. They just "provoke/speed up" the reaction to happen. It will be part of the reactant for that, then also part of the product. It is said to be "regenerated" but not used up. Only intermediates get destroyed since they are only formed and but later on cance...

Re: Units in answer
From my understanding the units are KJ/mol. If you have J/mol just convert to KJ and be specific on the amount of sig figs. It shouldn't cancel out if ur just adding, subtracting, or multiplying. It's only when you are dividing (ex. JK/mol * 1/JK/mol) is when they can "cancel" each other.

Re: Quiz 1
I think, if it wasn't really fully explained in lecture, course reader or discussion, then it probably won't be hard derivations. Just like what was similarly talked about.

What has worked for me is to download silverlight if u haven't already and when the pop up comes up allow it to go. My lecture is only audio but sometimes I choose to watch lecture 1 or 3 for the video footage.
