i think it helps to just be consistent with the problem! i notice that i sometimes get lost along the way when i don't convert and forget what to cancel out

Re: irreversible reactions

A reversible process is at equilibrium and energy can move back and forth. An irreversible system is a process that cannot be reversed by an infinitesimal change in a variable.

So water in liquid form boils, and at 100 degrees celsius (boiling point), it turns to steam. The steam can then continue to be heated.

Re: delta g equilibrium

Yes, because ΔG = ΔG° + RTln(Q). If ΔG = 0, 0 = ΔG° + RTln(Q), ΔG° = -RTln(Q) = -RTln(K), Q=K means at equilibrium

Re: Free energy and work

Well when we refer to Gibbs Free Energy (G), its just the energy that is free to do useful work. So the change in Gibbs Free Energy (ΔG) is equal to the maximum amount of work done by a process at constant temperature and pressure (ΔG=[W]max).

Re: Isolated Systems

I think so because an isolated system is a closed system that cannot exchange energy with the surroundings, so I would assume that the system's volume remains constant.
