Confusiong of Naming Cycloalkanes

Hi, for cycloalkanes, when combining common naming and IUPAC naming, how do you know where to start numbering. For example, in the Organic chem course reader, on page 24, why does pentylcyclohexane not have a low number in front of it name to show the numbering order of the carbon atom that cyclopen...

Re: Winter 2015 Midterm Question 2 and 3 D

Hello, just to add on to the questions here, for 2 &3 part D, how do you know to ADD the summation of broken bonds to the summation of formed bonds. Usually the equation is summation of delta-H (broken bonds) minus the summation of delta-H (formed bonds)? And I also asks this because the two for...

Do Units matter when setting up Titration Problem [ENDORSED]

Do the units matter when plugging in the volumes and molarities of the acids and bases in a titration problem using the formula (formula used for calculating titrations)

Re: Chemicale Equilbria-ICE Table Problem

Okay, I understand a bit more. The concentration is in moles per ONE liter, and the reaction is in a 2L reaction vessel, so I need to divide the two molarities given in the problem by 2 to find the actual concentration. Concentration is mol/1 liter. Thank you.

Chemicale Equilbria-ICE Table Problem

On page 218 in the course reader, located in the "Fall 2010 Final Exam" (towards the back of course reader). Question #6 says: At 25 degrees Celcius, K_{c} =1.93 for the reaction N_{2}O_{4}\rightleftharpoons 2NO_{2}. If 0.020 mol of N_{2}O_{4} and 0.010 mol NO_{2} are placed in a 2.00-L re...

Lewis Acid and Base [ENDORSED]

How are examples of Lewis acids if they are cations (they gave away electrons), yet the definition of Lewis acid is an electron pair acceptor?

Hi, does the equilibrium constant represented as a subscript matter? Ex: or <--does it matter what we choose to use?
