Re: Quiz 1

Dr. Lavelle said that the average for quiz one was around 77%, does that mean that our scores are curved out of 77% like other science classes, or are our grades out of the total (40points)?

Re: Quiz Policy

I was hoping I could get some clarification on the quiz policy in regards to students with disabilities. Re: Pi and Sigma Bonds

I read that Sigma-bonds are stronger than Pi-bonds, but I really don't understand, Like why does a Side-to-Side overlap mean its Most resistant to twisting and Prevents atoms with large radii from forming multiple bonds, therefore making it a Weaker bond than a Sigma-bond?

Re: Hybridization Example

On Homework Question #1 (4.1) is asked us to determine whether a Bent or Linear shape molecule "must be, may be, or cannot be one or more lone pairs of electrons on the central atom" and this confused me because when we went over the H20 molecule example in class, we said that the structur...

Re: SO2 Best Lewis Structure

This is not necessarily for SO2, but more for SO3. In class on Wednesday we went over the best Lee structure for this Chemical bond and I got confused on how the two lone pair of elections underneath S and transferred them to form a bond?

Re: Calculating Formal Charge [ENDORSED]

When calculating the Formal Charge of a chemical bond, is it safe to assume that S = The number of bonds rather then S/2?
