Dr. Lavelle said that the average for quiz one was around 77%, does that mean that our scores are curved out of 77% like other science classes, or are our grades out of the total (40points)?

I was wondering if anyone could explain to me how they got the answer 9.25 for:
pKa (NH4+) = -log(5.55x10^-10)

Because when I plug it into my calculator I get: 21.31

I read that Sigma-bonds are stronger than Pi-bonds, but I really don't understand, Like why does a Side-to-Side overlap mean its Most resistant to twisting and Prevents atoms with large radii from forming multiple bonds, therefore making it a Weaker bond than a Sigma-bond?

This is not necessarily for SO2, but more for SO3. In class on Wednesday we went over the best Lee structure for this Chemical bond and I got confused on how the two lone pair of elections underneath S and transferred them to form a bond?

When calculating the Formal Charge of a chemical bond, is it safe to assume that S = The number of bonds rather then S/2?
