Re: Naming cyclodienes
You have to add to add a vowel (a) at the end of hex (hexa) or pent (penta) so that two consonants are not next to each other in the name.

Re: Electrophilic Aromatic Substitution
Electrophilic Aromatic Substitution: This is the process in which an atom that is attached to an aromatic system (usually hydrogen) is replaced by an electrophile. Bimolecular Nucleophilic Substitution: This is the process in which an electron rich nucleophile selectively bonds with or attacks the p...

Re: Quiz 3 [ENDORSED]
Where does quiz 3 cover up to in the homework questions? Someone said constitutional isomers are included which would basically mean all of chapter 1 but Dr. Lavelle said that it won't cover all of chapter 1. Quiz 3 should cover the problems in the book that start going over activation energy all t...

Re: Knowing Rate Laws
Either we will be told in the problem which rate it is and then we will the corresponding equations. Otherwise, we will be given a table of different experiments that include rates and the concentrations on the reactants and we will need to figure out which order it is.

Re: Spontaneous Reactions
There are rules for enthalpy and entropy, but it depends on the conditions: If delta H is + and delta S is -, then delta G is nonspontaneous at ALL temperatures If delta H is - and delta S is -, then delta G is spontaneous at low temperatures If delta H is + and delta S is +, then delta G is spontan...

Re: Triple Point
So the triple point is at around 0.01 degrees Celsius and 611.657 Pascals and this is the lowest pressure at which liquid water can exist. At this temperature and pressure, all three phases coexist in thermodynamic equilibrium. Any slight change in pressure can make the water change its state.
