Re: Nernst Equation
It should be given to us. However, I think it is good practice to keep in mind how it was derived because it was mentioned in class and was a question on the midterm.

Re: Saying Thank You to Dr. Lavelle
Dear Dr. Lavelle,
I appreciate the work you put into preparing us Chemistry 14B students. All the resources and jokes you have provided have definitely helped me.
Thank you,
Alice Gonzalez

Re: Cyclopentane Naming
Smaller numbers do not have to correspond to names in alphabetical order. I believe we use 1,1 instead of 2,2 because 2,2 > 1,1 and we want the lowest numbers possible.

Re: Quiz 3 [ENDORSED]
I think quiz 3 will contain the parts of kinetics that were not covered in quiz 2. This includes the Arrhenius equation. It should also include the sections of organic chemistry we have covered so far in lecture.

Re: HW 14.5 a [ENDORSED]
Not sure if this helps, but for problem 14.15 part a I believe you can find the equations needed in the appendix of the book. This would be the equations
AgBr(s)+e- -->Ag(s) + Br-(aq) and Ag+(aq) + e- --> Ag(s). To get the overall equation you will need to flip the first equation.

Re: 9.13
This was an error in the solution manual. You can check the class website for more details. You should use nRln(V2/V1) and nCvln(T2/T1) where Cv is (5/2)R for a diatomic ideal gas.

I believe we will be given one very similar to the one on page 125 in the course reader.

Yes, I believe on Professor Lavelle's website you can click on "Solution Manual Errors" and this situation is noted.
