Chem 14BL Lab Switch!!!!!! PLS READ :D

Hi friends! I'm currently enrolled in Chem 14BL Lecture 1 (Wednesdays 10am-10:50am) for next quarter. I am also currently in Lab 1J (Thursdays 6:30pm-9:20pm). This lab does not work well at all with my schedule. I was wondering if anyone would be willing to switch with me. I would gladly even take y...

Questions regarding quiz 3

When giving the names of organic molecules on quiz 3, will we be required to give the common name or IUPAC name or will either be acceptable?
Also, when will practice quiz 3's solutions be available?

Bond enthalpy question on quiz 1

I have difficulty deciphering which bonds have been broken and formed while doing a bond enthalpy problem when given the lewis structure of polyatomic molecules. Does anyone have a trick or something that would make this easier?

Re: Question 7 on Midterm 2013

So we reverse it simply because we want the electrons in that equation on the right side? I was under the impression that we always wanted a positive voltage for our E0cell, and we flipped which ever equation allowed us to obtain such an answer.

Question 7 on Midterm 2013

can someone explain to me why we reverse the oxidation half reaction with the E0=+1.49V, resulting in a negative voltage, instead of the reduction half reaction with the E0=+1.07V?

Cell Diagram

can someone explain to me how to be sure when to use a comma while making a cell diagram? I understand using a comma means both are in the solution, but does this also mean both are cathodes?

Using the van't Hoff equation for a gas

Could someone further explain the conversion from Kc to K in order to use this equation for a gas? Could someone also give me an example of a question in which I would do this?
Refer to page 452 in the textbook "One word of warning..."

R [ENDORSED]

should we always be using the gas constant r=8.3145 instead of r=0.08206 for all thermodynamic problems? How can we be sure?

Calculating q using a heating curve

Is there any other way to calculate Qtotal based off a heating curve besides splitting it up into sections on the graph (Q1, Q2, Q3, etc.) and adding them all together?
