I am not 100% sure, but the class syllabus, under the category of functional groups, gives a certain list of functional groups, which phenol is not a part of. Check page 7 of the course reader and check the assigned problems for that section to be sure.

No you do not. The only parts counted in the coordination number are the components within the square brackets. For example, in K[FeCl3] . 2H20, K and the 2 H2Os are not counted.

Conjugate bases of weak acids and conjugate acids of weak bases affect the pH, as they tend to pull away protons from H2O or donate protons, respectively.
