The standard cell potential is 0 for this reaction because the standard cell potential of a hydrogen electrode is the standard with which we analyze all other cell potentials. Re: Ion-Selective Electrodes/finding pH
An ion-selective electrode is a sensor that allows one to measure ionic concentrations in aqueous solution. If you've ever seen a pH meter that you stick into a solution in high school chemistry, for example, that would be a common example of an ion-selective electrode. It allows you to measure the ...

From what I understand, we aren't being given 2 Van't Hoff equations. When the course reader says, "assume delta S naught is constant" and, "assume delta H naught is constant" it is not because there are two equations where one is constant and the other is not. The course reader ...

An atom can have more than 8 electrons around it, when bonding, if it has a d orbital, e.g. when n>=3. When forming bonds electrons are normally added to the valence shell of an atom until it reaches its octet. However, with elements that have d orbitals, there can be more than 8 because after it fi...

The formula for formal charge is FC = # of valence electrons in free atom - (# of lone pair electrons + (bonding electrons/2)), or FC = V - (L + S/2) with variables. So if the formal charge is zero, it means that the number of lone pair electrons plus the number of bonding electrons divided by to (o...
