General for Confirmations
Would we have to know how to calculate certain values in this section? Using a formula or method? So far I have only noticed naming and identified types of formations for the most part.

Benzene [ENDORSED]
Would we have to memorize molecules such as benzene? In the organic course reader i noticed how significant and commonplace benzene pops up. Or do we only need to know the common ten prefixes in order to name a molecule (including the others mentioned in lecture?)

A little narrative:
Helium walks into a bar
The bartender says "We don't serve Noble Gases here"
....helium doesn't react.

Detail in the Rate Laws
Given the Zero order reactions to even the second, i noticed that the sign is negative (multiplied to the rate constant K); does our answer have to satisfy the negative, or does it not matter? In lecture and even in discussion the detail to whether to include the sign or not was particularly not men...

Redox Reactions (Under Acidic/Basic Solutions) [ENDORSED]
It's still a bit confusing to me regarding how to separate a certain reaction into it's half reactions, taking note that it is either in an acidic or basic solution. Where do the hydronium ions go, or how do you know where to add water? Do we simply add hydroxide or hydronium on either side to balan...

So Much Voltage?
Is there a limit to how much power a cell can generate? (Is this why some large batteries have multiple stacks of cells withing the entire unit?)

Re: Reference to Dr. Lavelle's lecture notes
Interesting, the universe reaching a so called "maximum entropy" does seem plausible, yet by what do you mean the energy being transferred into something else? Radiation? Is that considered energy?
Thank you-
Thank you-

Reference to Dr. Lavelle's lecture notes
"Since the universe is an isolated system, the energy of the universe is constant." There are theories in astrophysics/astronomy (I apologize i do not have knowledge over the genesis over it and by whom) regarding over the possible outcomes of the end of the Universe. One is particular tha...

Phase Change of CO2
Carbon dioxide undergoes sublimation and deposition commonly; why is it that this molecule, (and others similarly) do not transition through a liquid state? Or can it?

Writing the P Orbitals; Question
On any exam given, is it necessary to write out the P orbitals explicitly ( say 1px, 2py, 3pz) or will simply writing the P ( with the corresponding number of electrons) be acceptable?

Is there a limit to how complex a orbital model can get? In other words, as the we travel up the periodic table, does accuracy fade away from depicting an orbital model?

The Cat [censored] Analogy
If there was one thing high school chemistry taught me, it was the proof of how analogies can help one understand concepts in science. Take this scenario: A new smoothie shop opened in town, and the establishment is famous for using high quality, healthy fruits that no other shop can compare to. Gra...
