2013 Final Q3 Part A
For part A, I don't understand how the E(cell) ends up being 0.31V because don't you do E(cathode)-E(anode) to get E(cell). So you would do +1.64V - (-1.33V) and that would get 2.97V. Is this an error or am I doing something wrong?

For the question it asks us to order (CHF3, CF4, CH3F, CH2F2) in increasing molar entropy?

Another way to think of it is to use DeltaU = q + w since the energy in the cylinder is used as heat and the piston is also exerting work on it. Thus, you can find the internal energy.

I understand that electron affinity increases as we move right and up the periodic table. However, since noble gases have full outer shells of electrons, do the trends of this table not apply to them? Or is there a special rule of certain noble gases and their electron affinity?

Can someone explain to me how and when to use the Rydberg equation? I'm confused on the real application and what it is used to find. Is it only used when given the wavelengths of hydrogen atoms, or can it be used for every element?

Wave Particle Duality
I understand that light is considered both a wave as well as a particle but when it comes to solving equations, when would you use the wave equation versus the equation for particles? Are they able to be used interchangeably or does it depend on what form of light they are asking you to evaluate for?
