Hi! When trying to name something cis vs trans, do you look at the atomic number atom by atom or do you look at everything attached to each side of the double bond?

F is an electrophile because it needs one more electron to get the full octet. However, F- is a nucleophile because it would have an extra electron to give up!

Hi! For triple bonds, are you allowed to draw the structure like /\/\/\/\ and then put the triple bond on one of the diagonals? because in the book for number 1.11c which is (CH3)2CHCCCH2CH3 the drawing shows one straight long segment with the triple bond parallel to it. How do you know which to do?...

Also, when looking at a zero order reaction in terms of mechanisms, they are not present in the reactant portion and only the intermediates are in that portion (if you wanted to look at it from a mechanism standpoint).

You use fractions when you are calculating things like heat of formation (which is for one mole of whatever you want to form). Whenever you want to calculate one mole of something, everything else becomes a fraction. Otherwise you can use integers.

You can also calculate degeneracy by doing the number of possible places (states) to the power of the total number of particles! Ex: You have 2 particles that can go in one of 3 spaces. W=3^2=9.

Going from a solid to a liquid is endothermic and heat is absorbed! because we look at everything in terms of the system, delta H is positive because heat must go in!

Hi! It's actually the higher the bond order the stronger the bond. So a bond order of three is stronger than a bond order of 1 because a triple bond is shorter and stronger than a single bond!

Hi! How do you know when you're just supposed to draw one lewis structure vs. when you're supposed to draw every lewis structure to show resonance? Do you just always draw all possible structures or if it just says draw lewis you draw only one but if it says show resonance you draw all?

The Heisenberg Equation shows the particle like nature of light. The equation is to find the indeterminacy of momentum and and position, which we'd only be able to do if light were to behave as a particle.

Hi! So i noticed the R in the En equation for the H atom is 3.29E15 but the R equation in Rydberg is 1.097E7. Are they different variables entirely? Are we allowed to use the Rydberg equation in this class instead of En equation?
