how to name

If a molecule has both a double bond and a functional group attached (such as a hydroxide), how would we name the suffix of the molecule?

pseudo rate law vs non-pseudo rate law

On page 68 of the course reader, they talk about pseudo 1st order rate laws and pseudo 2nd order rate laws? Is there any difference between a "real" 1st/2nd order rate law and a pseudo rate law? If so, what is it?

balancing basic redox equations

how do you balance a basic redox half reaction if when you add H2O to balance out the H, adding OH to balance out the O would only cause the number of Hydrogens to change, thus, forming a never ending cycle of adding H2O and OH?

free energy (G) of a gas at pressure P

In the course reader on page 40, it says that G=standard free energy + R*T*ln(P). However in this previous equation it was (P/standard pressure) in the natural log. So my question is, how did (P/standard pressure) suddenly just become P?

calculating delta U [ENDORSED]

How can delta U equal delta H if there's another equation stating that delta U equals delta H minus P times delta V? If delta U equals delta H, is this assuming there is no volume change?

Temperature of sample remaining constant?

I don't quite understand how the temperature of a sample can remain constant if heat is still being added to the system? Wouldn't the heat naturally increase the temperature no matter what?
