Re: Galvanic cell calculations

I'm pretty sure it's the concentration of aqueous products over aqueous reactants.

Re: Number 5B from 2015 Final

I assume we'll be given the electric potentials of the relevant half reactions, or else I don't see how it's possible to do this. In that case, the one with the more positive electric potential is the stronger reducing agent and the one with the more negative electric potential is the oxidizing agent.

Re: Bonds

I'm pretty sure the equatorial bonds are always horizontal and axial are vertical, right? Is there anymore to it?

Re: Final 2011 #1c

I would guess that it's because NO can be oriented in two states (N-O and O-N) while BF3 can only be oriented in one state.
Since entropy is proportional to W, and W = (# of possible states)^(# of particles), NO would have higher residual entropy

Re: 2014 Midterm Q7 E & F

The lowest energy Newman diagram is when the largest groups are farthest apart. CN and C(OH)3 are the two largest groups (nitrogen atom is larger than 3 hydrogen atoms) so the lowest energy diagram will be when they are in anti-conformation.

Re: When to use Isomers

You use cis and trans in order to specify the shape/orientation of the molecule when there are multiple substituents. Cis means they are on the same side of the longest carbon chain and trans means they're on opposite sides.

Re: Naming Help

If there are two substituents on the cycloalkane then the substituent with the earlier name alphabetically is given the first number. If there are more than two substituents, then alphabetical naming is irrelevant to the numbering (only to the name) and the numbers are arranged so that the possible ...

Dr Lavelle said that the last couple sections of kinetics will be on it. He posted exactly what's covered in another post.
