When dealing with an electrophilic addition reaction, is the goal to breakup double bonds? In the course reader, the example of HBr and 2-Butene, says to break up the double bond. Is that always going to be the case for other reactions? Is it best to try and get rid of the double bond?

I am not completely positive, but I believe that we use Ka for acids and Kb for bases. So far we have only used Ka for weak acids and Kb for the bases.

How do I know many bonds each ligand can make? Or how can I determine which ligands can make more than one bond? I don't exactly remember what was said in lecture about the ligands that had an asterisk next to them in the course reader.

As long as one atom in the compound is less than 8, then you will have to use the z<8 diagram. It doesn't matter if one atom is greater than 8, you still have to use the z<8 diagram because of the atom that is less than 8.

It is unnecessary to calculate the % mass composition when you are given the grams because you can just go from grams to moles. It is a lot quicker to use the grams to convert to moles rather than finding % calculate composition. (You also save time in your calculations.)
