Re: Post All Chemistry Jokes Here
Chemists are bad at telling jokes... they lack the the element of surprise. I blew up a chemistry expiriment. Its okay oxidents happen. Two chemists go into a bar. The first one says "I think I'll have an H2O." The second one says "I think I'll have an H2O too" - and he died. The...

Re: Post All Chemistry Jokes Here
I would post another chemistry joke but all the good ones argon.
I hearded oxygen and magnesium were going out I was like OMg.
I think I lost an electron. In fact I'm positive.

Re: lone pairs and naming the shape
Both are "Trigonal" as there are three bonds but the presence of the lone pair pushes the bonds on one so they are not in the same position they would be otherwise. That is why the molecule is not trigonal plannar but instead trigonal pyramidal. The bonds are still trigonal but they are no...

Re: Polar vs Non polar
To determine if a molecule is polor or non polar find the 3d structure using the lewis structure and VSPR rules. If the molecule is symmetric and the dipole moments cancel out it is non polar. If it is not asymmetric and the dipole moments don't cancel out it will have a net dipole moment and it wil...

Re: Conversions [ENDORSED]
Do we get a formula sheet with conversions between things like electron volts and joules and. other conversions that we might need to know? Or are these things we should be memorizing?
