Long ligand names in formulas
When writing out the formula for a coordination compound, do we have to write the long version of ligands? For example, do we need to write out NH2CH2CH2NH2 or can we just write (en)?

This is a bit late, but you might want to check out Alpha Chi Sigma, the chemistry fraternity here. They offer free tutoring by appointment. Here's a link to their site: http://www.chem.ucla.edu/axe/tutoring.html

Re: Drawing Lewis Structures [ENDORSED]
In my discussion section, my TA said that there is no hard and fast rule that will tell you. However, it is usually pretty evident. For example, if there is one of a certain element and three of another, the lone element is usually in the center. For example, in H2O, oxygen is in the center. I read ...

Re: Significant Figures
Wait, but when we use significant figures, we are supposed to take that of the number with the least significant figures, so shouldn't it just be one significant figure adapted from the n=3? Or does that just not count? No, that doesn't count because the 3 isn't actually being used in the calculati...

Re: MOlECULAR FORMULA [ENDORSED]
The mass of the molecule is 176.14g and the molar mass of the empirical formula is 88.06g. You multiply by 2 because 176.14 / 88.06 is equal to 2. It won't be multiplied by 2 in every conversion, but you can follow the same process to find what to multiply by if you are given the same information.
