HW 14.5 a [ENDORSED]

I am unaware how the reaction being a solubility equilibrium reaction makes a difference in calculating the half reactions, if anyone could help!

Re: Chapter 14 Question 3

Oh okay! So to be clear, the oxidizing as well as the reducing agents are dependent on the other entities?

Re: Chapter 14 Question 3

How did you guys get Cl2 to be the oxidizing agent and (S203)2- to be the reduction agent?

Entropy Change [ENDORSED]

I was really confused understanding why entropy decreases or increases with change of volume or pressure, but I understand it now and I just wanted to share if anyone else was struggling with this too, or maybe it was just me. Entropy is the degree of disorder, or in other words, how spread out part...

Heat Capacity

Why is it that when heating water, the heating curves of the solid and vapor phases have steeper slopes than the liquid curve? I understand that they have a lower heat capacity, but why is that?

pKb and pKa

I understand that the lower the pKa the stronger the acid is, but why is it that the lower the pKb the stronger the base?

Re: Difference in Electronegativity [ENDORSED]

Is ionic character based on the difference in electronegativity? For example, does a greater ionic character mean a greater difference in electronegativity in a bond?
