Re: Quiz 2 Question 1

Yes this one was without the solutions, I handed in my workbook so I don't know the exact question but I remember we had to compare the electronegativity of multiple compounds, and I didn't know how to go about an element with a subscript, as in H2S.

Formal Charge for Indivual Elements in Compound

So when the overall sum of formal charges is equal to zero but individual elements have say a -1 or a +1 or in some way balance eachother out, how do I determine which element should have what charge?

Quiz 2 Question 1

Ok so one of the compounds we're being asked to compare is H2S. In order to determine its electronegativity I'm assuming I'd have to double Hydrogens electronegativity, but I don't know that value. Will we be given the value? If not how would I approach that.

Quiz 2 Question 1 Wording [ENDORSED]

So it says circle the compound with greater "ionic character"
And my notes have trends for both ionic radii and ionization energy.
which trend does ionic character refer to? or how do i figure that out

Given is Copper(II)Sulfate . 5water I'd type out the formula but I'm not sure how to do subscripts My first question is why there is a period between copper(II)sulfate and water, I don't know what to make of it or if its just a typo? The rest of the problem is determine the mass of Copper(II)Sulfate...

Question Wording on Photoelectric Effect

The question I'm stuck on asks for the lowest frequency of light that will cause photoelectric emission, and then the maximum energy of the electrons emitted. The wording is confusing me, does this involve an inequality?

Where does the 4.02 come from?

Quiz 1 number 3

Hi, for #3 I converted megahertz to hertz for the given energy amount, and I was going to use E=hv and then c= lambda v
But h= 6.626 x 10^-34 J/s
And my energy is 9.95 x 10^7 Hz
My point is they're different units
Can I still find v in E= hv?
Or do I need to do some kind of conversion

Balancing Equations Video [ENDORSED]

My Highschool chemistry teacher taught us to balance this way, its the lengthy method but I prefer it to trying to balance in my head. https://video.search.yahoo.com/yhs/search;_ylt=AwrTccttqexXinYAC1APxQt.?p=balancing+equations&fr=yhs-Lkry-SF01&fr2=piv-web&hspart=Lkry&hsimp=yhs-SF01...
