Question on how many steps involved in a rxn:
Are the number of steps directly related to how many atoms are moving and/or how many bonds are broken or formed?

Re: Disregarding Products and Focusing on Reactants

If we're only worrying about the rate of reaction going forward, then iirc the reactants matter more since that's what the eventual concentration of the products relies on

Multi step problems [ENDORSED]

In the multi-step problems, such as calculating net delta U when ice (@ -20'C) is heated to water, and then steam (at 150'C), what are the different steps and calculations necessary?

Re: Oxoacids

If I'm not mistaken, ClOH is more acidic, because the Cl is more electronegaive, so it spreads the negative charge throughout the molecule, making it more stable.

Why did the chemists lose an electron?

They weren't keeping an ion them!

Re: Electron Affinity

From the internet

"Electron affinity is defined as the change in energy (in kJ/mole) of a neutral atom (in the gaseous phase) when an electron is added to the atom to form a negative ion. In other words, the neutral atom's likelihood of gaining an electron"

Would anyone living off campus be interested in forming a study group? Obviously, no details have yet been decided, I would just like to gauge interest. Please reply if you're interested!
