Torsional strain is a result of eclisped hydrogens. If you observe the chair conformation on cyclohexanes, they have only single bonds but have no torsional strain due to the staggered hydrogens.

Some common names such as iso- prefixes are also used as substituents in IUPAC naming, but as for the overall picture I feel like Dr. Lavelle leans toward IUPAC naming and wouldn't require both on the final. Not sure though, so if someone else could confirm this that'd be great!

There is no change in volume of the total system. Yes, the valve is being opened inside the system, but the system is not interacting with the surroundings in any way. Also, if you use the equation q=-w after knowing q, then you could also find that w=0. Hope this helps!

To add on to that, since it is a solvent for the reaction, the concentration of water is in excess and therefore would not have a contribution to the rate of the reaction.

In lecture, it was said that the double bond is broken and a single bond is formed, since those are really the only ones we can measure rather than simply breaking one of the bonds in a double bond structure. Hope this helps!

Also keep in mind that a pressure change as a result of adding inert gas to the system will have no effect on the concentrations of the other gases, thereby having no change in the state of the reaction.
