The course reader mentions that the probability of 3 molecules colliding simultaneously is unlikely, so termolecular reactions are less common (to the person asking how many reactions there were).

For example, if you had a problem on combustion, your equation would be -q(system)=+q(surroundings). This is because combustion is exothermic, so while the system is losing energy. its surroundings are gaining it.

If you can you should also join AAP. They meet twice a week for an hour and a half, and the peer facilitators have taken the class so they know what's to be expected. Plus, they go along with Lavelle's lessons, so it's really helpful!

The course reader had an example where it multiplied Ka1 and Ka2 in order to get the overall K, but I don't understand the math. For instance, how does multiplying [HCO3-] by [CO3^2-] result in [CO3^2-]?

I personally find it easier to go through the course reader again to fully understand the key concepts, then start the homework, and if I come across concepts that i don't understand, then I go through the textbook to understand the smaller details.

I think it was mentioned in lecture today that if a ligand already has a name with di, then you use bi for the second ligand.

Yes Josue, the greater the difference in electronegativity, the greater the charge difference, and thus the greater ionic character of the covalent bond

Highest precision in velocity
I was recently doing a problem that gave us the radius of 2 atoms and asked which atom could give us the highest precision of the velocity of the electron. The answer was the atom that had the greater radius, but I didn't really understand why. Does anyone know how to solve this?

I don't think anyone's mentioned this, but in addition to all of Lavelle's resources, being a part of AAP is extremely beneficial. I joined last week and the 1.5 hr sessions twice a week are really helpful. The Peer Facilitators take their time to explain the subjects thoroughly, and learning from y...

We were shown a model of the different energies that electrons can have (with the Lyman and Balmer series) in lecture today, but I was confused on whether the arrows go up or down when energy is being absorbed.
