Re: Naming Coordination Compounds
If a molecule is polydentate ie: en, dien, or oxalato, you use bis and tris for the amount of that molecule.
ex: Na3[Co(C2O4)3] would be sodium tris(oxalato) cobaltate III
You use di and tri with non-polydentate molecules (most other ligands we learned).

Re: 12.65 (e) and (f)
I have a similar question for number 12.69 part B. It says calculate the pH of 0.055M AlCl3 and then the reaction, in the solution manual, has the reaction as Al(h20)6^3+. Why is the Cl gone? and Are all metals going to bond with water molecules?
Thanks
Thanks

Re: Sigma and Pi Bonds
Its largely based on the interaction of bonds. A sigma bond is between two orbitals, each with 1 electron, and interacts from end-to-end. It has cylindrical symmetry. A pi bond, forms when orbitals overlap side by side, but most importantly is in addition to a sigma bond! It can't rotate and the bon...

Yes, that sounds correct! You almost always need to convert mass to moles. I went to office hours today and received the same explanation so you are good!
